Welcome another edition of the Donnelly news.
In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: There will be joint services at St. John’s on June 29 at 9 a.m. Services will be at Kongsvinger on July 6 and 13. There is no Bible study on June 29.
There will be a Fourth of July celebration at Kongsvinger at 11 a.m.
Trinity Lutheran Church of Cyrus is sponsoring a gospel message on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 p.m. through Aug. 27 at the Venture Arts Center in Cyrus.
St. John’s of Starbuck will hold an ice cream social on June 29 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.
The New Wine troupe will have a homecoming concert at First Lutheran Church of Morris on June 29 at 7 p.m.
There will be a post-nuptial open house for David and Hannah (Hilton) Larson at Kongsvinger Church on June 29 from 2-4 p.m. They were married on June 7 at Kongsvinger. David’s parents are Corrine Larson and Larry Tuffton and the late Elroy Larson, and his grandmother is Bertha Larson.
Former Donnelly area resident Veronica Smith passed away on June 20. Survivors include her daughter-in-law Marilyn Smith and her family. I attended her visitation and funeral.
Former Donnelly area resident Selma Bruse passed away on June 24.
Haley Henrichs of Morris and Olivia Reimers of Donnelly were among the students named to the dean’s list at Ridgewater College for the spring semester.
Bryce Jergenson of Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta was named honorable mention to the West Central Tribune’s All-Area baseball team. He and Beth Holland have also been nominated for the West Central Tribune’s Hengstler-Ranweiler Award.
Agnes Searle was the recipient of a Pay It Forward Stevens County award recently.
Bennett Smith informs me that he was one of the runners from the area who took part in the Grandma’s half marathon in Duluth last week. He finished 1,953 out of 7,299 runners.
The Threshing Bee royalty were part of the Old Settlers Reunion parade in Barrett on June 21.
In the past week, I attended the Kiwanis talent show, visitation for Arlene Melchert in Morris, several Old Settlers Reunion events in Barrett as well as visiting some of the residents of the Barrett Care Center.
Mark Koepke and I stopped by a rummage sale at his former home in Donnelly and met the new residents: Sue Pester and her family. She said her husband works at Westmor in Morris with Doug Cardwell.
