Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
It was a very hot and humid weekend. Thankfully we got some rain to cool things off on Sunday. The corn and beans are rapidly maturing and harvest should begin soon.
From St. John’s/ Kongsvinger: The regular schedule resumes on Sunday, Sept. 15 with services at 8:30 a.m. at Kongsvinger followed by coffee fellowship and Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. St John’s will have coffee fellowship at 10 a.m. followed by services at 11 a.m.
St. John’s Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church guest night is Sunday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. with Allan Saugstad sharing slides about his Habitat for Humanity trip to El Salvador.The St John’s fall fest will be on Saturday, Oct. 5.
From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church news: an evening Bible study on Revelation will start on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at the church. Note this will be a condensed version of the Wednesday morning study on that book.
Rally Sunday will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15, with a brunch following 9 a.m. services.
The Chord Ayres, a men’s chorus from the Milan area, will be in concert at Good Shepherd, on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
The Church of Assumption of Mary in Morris will have its annual Septemberfest celebration, on Sunday, Sept. 15, beginning with a Mass at 10 a.m., and continuing with a dinner and other activities throughout the afternoon.
The fall rummage sale at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris will be held on Wednesday Sept. 25.
The Grief Share support group will start on Monday, Sept. 16 and run through Dec. 9, at the Morris Evangelical Free Church.
An open house wedding dance in honor of Steve Larson and Audrey McNally will be held today (Saturday) at 8 p.m. at “A Place to Be” in Donnelly.
Lois Laurine Ball of Morris passed away Aug. 30. Survivors include Jerlyn (Don) Wille of Elk River, Minn. There will be a private memorial service for her at Camp Ripley Veteran’s Memorial near Randall, Minn. Don is a former Donnelly area resident.
On Sept. 6, Steve Fults and I attended the “Metal to Money” auction near Hoffman. Afterwards, I traveled to Dalton for the Lake Region Pioneer Threshermen’s Association show. The Threshing Bee royalty were part of the parade on Sept. 7. On Sept. 8, I attended Niemackl Lake park day near Herman. On my way home I stopped at the Rod & Gun Club trap shoot in Donnelly.
Mark Koepke informs me that his brother Robert (Bobby) has a new address: Bobby and Sondra Koepke, 2225 N #6 St., Orlando FL 32820.
The Donnelly Community Club met on Sept. 9. The next meeting is Monday Oct.14. Next year’s Threshing Bee is Aug. 23 and 24 and the feature will be Ford.
Andy Aanerud and I attended some of the Big Iron show in West Fargo N.D. this week. While there, I had the opportunity to tour the Case/New Holland factory in Fargo. It was very interesting to see how tractors are built.
