Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
The weather has been very sunny and mild the last week with some needed rain towards the end of the week.
In news from St. John’s/Kongsvinger: On Sunday, Oct. 6, Kongsvinger Lutheran Church is planning a dedication worship service/program followed by an “old fashioned potluck” dinner. The service of Holy Communion will begin at 11 a.m.
The St John’s fall fest will be on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. with a rummage sale, raffle, card, and bake sale and lunch available.
Rev. Mary Dodgson has accepted the call to be the interim pastor at the parish. She is scheduled to start work here on Oct. 15.
From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: Some have asked about the construction at the church. Last fall we decided to put a new addition onto the church to enlarge the fellowship hall and provide much needed class room space. You can see some pictures of it on the Good Shepherd Facebook page
There will be a fall bazaar at Zion Lutheran Church of Morris on Oct. 12 from 9 am. - 1 p.m.
The Glacial Ridge Conference women's fall gathering will be held on Oct. 7 at Trinity Lutheran church Cyrus, beginning with registration at 4:30 p.m.
The Donnelly City Council and Rendsville 4-H will meet on Oct. 7 .
The Donnelly Community Club will meet on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
There will be a baby shower for Kelly Frank at the “Place to be in Donnelly” today (Saturday) from 2-5 p.m. She and Randy are expecting twins.
A Fall craft vendor sale will be held at the Donnelly hall from 10 a.m. – 3p.m. today (Saturday).
The Morris Life Care Pregnancy Center is hosting the Respect Life Banquet on Sunday Oct. 6 beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Hosanna Worship Center in Morris.
Former Donnelly area resident Phyllis Dyer passed away Sept. 4 in Arizona. Her funeral is today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at the Federated Church in Morris.
Walter Roske of Hoffman passed away on Sept. 27. Survivors include his son, Russell and his children of Donnelly.
Savannah Aanerud finished 25th in the Milaca mega meet and first in the Ortonville invite for the Tigers cross country team.
The Tiger volleyball team won the Hancock tournament. Kourtney Geise and Becca Holland are members of that team.
Brooke Gillespie was elected vice president of the freshman class at Chokio-Alberta High School.
Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the Chord Ayers concert at Good Shepherd on Sept. 28. Earlier, I had traveled to the museum in Elbow Lake where I enjoyed the pioneer cemetery tour sponsored by the Grant County Historical Society. In the afternoon I also attended the green dorm dedication at the University of Minnesota Morris.
David Fluegel and I attended parts of the homecoming concert at the UMM Humanities Fine Arts center on Sept. 29. That evening, I attended presentation “Angles Among Us” by Rev. Wayne and Donna Jo Kopitzke in Cyrus. On Sept. 30, I attended the community meal at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris.
