Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
After a week of rainy weather, it has been sunny and mild this week which means farmers have been busy in the field. Most beans and much of the corn has been harvested.
In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: Confirmation Sunday is Oct. 27 at Kongsvinger.
Rev. Mary Dodgson has accepted the call to be the interim pastor at the parish. She is scheduled to start work here on Oct. 15.
The fall bazaar at Zion Lutheran Church of Morris will be held today (Saturday) Morris from 9a.m. - 1 p.m.
The fall festival at Our Savior’s Lutheran church Chokio is from 9 a.m. -12:30 p.m. today (Saturday).
John Michael Talbot will be in concert at The Chuch of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Morris on Oct. 27-29 at 7p.m. each night. A free will offering will be collected.
"Papers: Stories of Undocumented Youth" will be shown at the Federated Church of Morris on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 5:00 p.m.
The Donnelly fire department and Donnelly Community Club have meetings on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
A golden wedding celebration for Virgil and Theresa Fults will be held on Oct. 12 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris.
Congratulations to Scott and Kathy Bahr, who recently celebrated 30 years of marriage.
Dani Kloos and Jesse Streed were married on Aug. 31.
Savannah Aanerud finished 15th at the Sauk Center cross country meet, and fifth at the Benson meet.
Rebecca and Savannah Aanerud won several ribbons at the state horse meet.
Jackson Loge and Brandon Jergenson were among the elementary students recently honored in the fire prevention poster contest, sponsored by the Morris Fire Department.
The Stevens County Genealogical Society will meet on Nov. 7.
Mark Kopeke, Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended services at the West Wing Village on Oct. 4 with Rev Mike Hanson as preacher. We also attended the fall craft event at the Donnelly hall and St. John’s fall festival on Oct. 5. That evening I attended the 4-H awards show in Morris.
The Frank family had a mini family reunion over the weekend at St. John’s fall festival. Attending were Dorothy Jordheim (Gayle, Jenna, and Owen Gibson), and Shirley Frank (Laurie Hoffer and Danny Frank) from Donnelly, Marcia Baldwin from Burlington, Kan., Donna Frank from Starbuck, Joanna Christenson from Shakopee, and others members of their family.
On Oct. 8 I visited Cal and Jan Bumgardner in Morris.
Mark and I visited Sam Jordheim in Donnelly on Oct. 9.
On Oct, 7, while visiting Mark Koepke, we spoke with his sister Linda in Fennimore, Wisc. on the phone.
