Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

It has rained most of this week, with a break for some sun on Wednesday. Most of the beans are done and a fair amount of the corn has been picked too.

From St. John’s/ Kongsvinger:  Confirmation faith statements will be on Oct. 25 at Kongsvinger at 7 p.m. with confirmation on Oct. 27 during joint services at Kongsvinger at 11 a.m.

There will be joint services at Kongsvinger on Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. followed by a welcome dinner for Pastor Mary.

In news from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church:  a study on Luther’s large catechism will be starting soon. You can order one from the church, if you do not currently have one.

John Michael Talbot will be in concert at The Church of the Assumption of Mary in Morris Oct.  27-29 at 7p.m. each night.

Rev. John Smith, pastor of Trinity Lutheran in Cyrus, is retiring. His last service will be Nov. 3. There will be a worship service at 10:45 a.m., followed by a dinner and program at 2 p.m.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is sponsoring two upcoming seminars on Tuesday, Oct. 22: “Your Legacy" from 12-1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Morris, and “Keeping the Farm in the Family” from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Old No. One Southside Morris. Call 589-1731 for more information or to RSVP.

The Morris Area school board will be meeting in Donnelly on Oct. 21 at the town hall at 7 p.m.

There will be a nonprofit expo at the Morris are high school gym on Oct. 28 from 5-7:30 p.m.

“Cemeteries of Minnesota” will be presented by Doug Ohman at the Morris Public Library on Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.

Cammi Aanerud was named homecoming princess at M-State in Fergus Falls.

Savannah Aanerud finished fifth in the West Central Conference cross country meet.

Levin Strand recently earned several more badges at the Boy Scout court of honor in Morris.  

William Lesmeister (Cassie and Danielle) was baptized at Faith Lutheran in Morris on Oct. 13.

Ryker Brae Johnson was born on Sept. 12 to Ashli Kramer and Robert Johnson of Morris. Grandparents are Ray Kramer of Morris and Roni Kramer of Brandon and Brian and Janae Lundebrek of Clontarf. Great grandparents are Joyce Kramer and Maynard Koehntop.

On 0ct. 11, Mark Koepke and I traveled to Fergus Falls where we met his former sister-in-law, Shirley Koepke, for lunch and a visit. Shirley was married to Mark's foster brother Bobby.  Also joining us was her daughter Sabrina.  On the way home we stopped in Elbow Lake to visit with Dianne Kapphan.

On Oct. 12, Karen Long and I attend the fall bazaar at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. That afternoon, Mark and I attended the golden wedding celebration for Virgil and Theresa Fults in Morris. Afterward we visited Ruth Strand at her home in Morris. She recently attended a 90th birthday for her sister Palma Johnson. Later we attended the dinner at the American Legion in Morris.

Jim and Lou Eystad attended the adopted grandparents’ event at Kongsvinger on Oct 13.

On Oct. 14, the Donnelly Community Club held their monthly meeting, but due to a lack of a quorum the meeting was postponed to Nov. 11.

On Oct. 15, I attended part of the “Gather in the Park” event at the Someplace Safe Headquarters.

On Oct. 16, Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the ARC bazaar in Morris.

My “mailbox” at the Donnelly Post Office has disappeared. I will relocate the one from HD & Co. until I can (hopefully) replace it.
