Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.  This week’s issue is dedicated to the memory of my aunt, Mabel Van Olst, who passed away on Nov. 10, 2002.

Farmers have been busy taking advantage to the nice weather to get their crops in and yields have been fair. Lack of propane for drying crops has hampered their progress.  

In news from St. John’s/Kongsvinger news: There will be joint services at Kongsvinger, on Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. followed by a welcome dinner for Pastor Mary.

The church council will meet on Nov. 13 at Kongsvinger.  Please note the change of meeting place.

Kongsvinger Quartet CDs have been redone and are available for purchase.  Contact Jeanne Ennen at 246-3316 for details.

From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: The annual meeting date has been changed to Jan. 19, 2014.

Rev. John Smith, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, is retiring. His last service will be Nov. 3. There will be a worship service at 10:45 a.m., followed by a dinner and program at 2 p.m.

A scandinavian heritage dinner will be held at First Lutheran Church in Morris on Nov. 6, from 3-7 p.m.

A meatball supper will be held on Nov. 13 at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris starting at 4:30 p.m.

A New Wine informational meeting will be held on Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. at First Lutheran Church.

Prairie Area Chorales will present a program about and for children on Nov. 17 at 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris.

Ken and Linda Hodgson will be leading a community hymn sing on the second Sunday of each month, beginning with on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at Federated Church of Morris.

The Stevens County Genealogical Society will meet on Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m., at the Morris Public Library.

Rendsville 4-H and Donnelly city council will meet on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at the city and fire hall.  

The Donnelly community club will meet on Nov. 11 at 7p.m. at the hall.

The bookmobile will be in Donnelly on Nov. 4 at 3:30 p.m.  

Elnora Perkins of Morris passed away on Oct. 23.  

Ted Uhden of Redmond, Ore. passed away on Oct. 1.  Survivors include his brother Bob (Rose) and his family of Donnelly.

Pearl Jipson   of Portland, Ore. passed away on Sept. 22.  Survivors include her sister-in-law Linda (Cliff)   Hatlestad.   

Audrey Gronwold of Tintah passed away on Oct. 27.  Survivors include her daughter Louise (Randy) Werk and their family.

Jody Wilke of St. Cloud spent some time over the weekend visiting his mother, Pearl Anderson.

On Oct. 25, I attended the Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life fall tour in Alexandria.  Before the meeting, I visited with a friend in the Bethany Home.

On Oct. 26, I attended the 60th anniversary celebration of Sarlettes Music at their store in Morris.

Makayla Mau (Maynard and Lori) and Mason Dunn (Lowell and Sandy) were confirmed at Kongsvinger on Oct. 27. At the reception afterwards we sang happy birthday to Glen Werk. Several members of

his family were home to help him celebrate.  Family and friends of the Maus and Dunns enjoyed a dinner together afterwards at the parish hall.

That afternoon, Mark Koepke and I attended the Halloween party at the hall.  On Oct. 28, we attended the non-profit expo at the Morris Area high school.  Later, I attended a meeting of the Stevens

County Republican Party steering committee. The evening was topped off with the John Micheal Talbot concert.

Adam Uphoff (Alan and Mary) was confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church of Morris on Oct. 27.

I have placed a new box in the Post Office in Donnelly to replace the one that disappeared.
