Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Mother Nature has reminded us quite vividly that fall is here with some cool days and nights. Last week's rains stopped bean harvest over the weekend but dry sunny weather early this week allowed most area farmers to start in again. I talked to my neighbor when they were combining beans he said they had not a chance to figure out the yields but the moisture level was about 14 per cent.

Agnes Kruize and I spent some time in Albany over the weekend attending their Pioneer Days threshing show. Her son, Dennis, is a member of the Stearns County Pioneer Club and I had an opportunity to visit with him on Saturday. I also had the opportunity to enjoy a performance by Vern "the one man band," who was unable to attend the Donnelly Threshing Bee this year. He reported that he had an accident this summer and burned his fingers so was unable to play for a while. He hopes to return to Donnelly next year.
En route to Albany I stopped at the Good Samaritan Home in Hoffman to visit with Thelma Leegard.
The Threshing Bee royalty participated in the Applefest parade in Appleton on Sept. 19. After the parade it was off to the Swift County fairgrounds for a meal put on by the Ridge Riders Trail Club. On my way home I stopped at the Busse farm to visit with Jim and Julie. Later I stopped by the Good Shepard Lutheran Church to see the progress being made in preparation for its move to Morris. I have learned that as of this writing it is in Morris. If all goes as planned the congregation hopes to be worshiping in the building by Thanksgiving.
