Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

As winter approaches there may be occasions when I will be unable to get into town to check my boxes. Please keep that in mind if you have news and/or an announcement for me.

Mother Nature has given us a vivid reminder that winter is right around the corner with cold temperatures, some freezing drizzle and light snow during the past week.

In parish news for St. John's/Kongsvinger: Parish Bible study will be held on Dec. 1 and 9. Studies will be at St. John's from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and at Kongsvinger from 7-8 p.m.

There will be a Christmas carol sing-a-long at St. John's on Dec. 5 beginning at 4:30 p.m. with a light lunch following.

There will be a red poinsettia garden in the parish this year for Christmas services. If you would like to order one please call the parish office at 246-3211 by Dec. 18.

WordAlone Ministry will meet on Dec. 4 at Our Savior's Church in Chokio. A short business meeting will be held at 10 a.m. followed by the annual advent potluck dinner. Special guest will be Julie Smith from the Institute for Lutheran Theology. Everyone is welcome.

The 2nd annual holidazzle trim-a-tree event and silent auction will be held at the Donnelly hall on Dec. 4 and 5 from noon - 4 p.m. both days. Stop in for hot cider, coffee, sweets and other goodies. If you are going to bring a tree or an item for the silent auction please notify Sandy Dunn (246-3292), by Nov. 28. Proceeds will be used for renovations of the Donnelly hall.

The Red Hatters will meet on Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. at Place To Be for pizza. For those that wish to participate in a cookie exchange please bring two dozen cookies or goodies.

Learning Unlimited will meet on Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Morris Senior Center. Laird Barber will be the speaker.

Dale Snesrud of Northfield passed away on Nov. 18. Among the family members who survive him, is his wife Nancy (Frank). Her parents were the late John and Helen Frank of Donnelly.

Jacie Susan Wente was born on Nov. 9 in Alexandria to Chad and Jackie Wente. Grandparents are Rick and Sue Frass of Starbuck, and Richard and Linda Wente of Donnelly. Great-grandmothers are Irene Blocher of Starbuck and Rosalita Frass of Willmar.

Congratulations to Tara Flaten who was recently named to the honor roll at Hancock High School.

Congratulations to Carrie Roske who named the West Central Tribune's area team in volleyball.

Congratulations to Alex Erickson who was recently named an AAA winner at Chokio-Alberta High School.

Congratulations to Becky Hennen who was named support staff member of the year at Morris Area Schools.

Agralite is looking for the following people from Donnelly who had their capital credit checks returned: Gene/John Anderson; Don Bottcher; Joe Fitzgerald; and Paul Kietgerald. If you know the whereabouts of any of these people or any family members please contact Agralite at 1-800-950-8375.

Pearl A. Anderson and I took in the open house at Willie's Super Valu on Nov. 18. Later the Threshing Bee royalty were among the participants in the parade of lights in Morris. 

Andy Brevig and I attended the turkey bingo at the Donnelly hall on Nov. 19.

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the worship services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Morris on Nov. 21 and the fall festival at Kongsvinger.
