Merry Christmas from me and my "family"!

Please note that I have an early deadline for next week. I plan to check my boxes on Monday afternoon, Dec. 27.

It has been snowy and stormy during the past week. We got several inches of snow on Thursday/Friday and again on Monday so snow removal equipment has been kept busy. Fortunately temperatures have not been too cold. I have also seen some snowmobilers out as well as the groomer.

In news from the St. John's/Kongsvinger parish: Christmas day worship will be at Kongsvinger at 10 a.m. Saturday. There will be joint services at Kongsvinger at 10 a.m. on Dec. 26 and at St. John's at 10 a.m. on Jan. 2. There will be no Sunday school either week.

Since I am now an associate member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, I will also be providing some news from that parish as well. The Dec. 26 service will be their Christmas service. There will be no Sunday school until Jan. 2. Confirmation will resume on Dec. 29.

There will be a community Christmas dinner at noon at First Lutheran Church in Morris Saturday. A free will donation will be collected.

There will be no WordAlone meeting in January. The next one will be in February.

Most Donnelly area business will closed Saturday. Most will close early on New Year's Eve, and be closed on New Year's day. Please check with each business as to what their plans are.

Doddie Overson Williams informs me that they have changed the dates for the Donnelly girls get together in Rogers. It will now be held on the last Saturday of April and September instead of in January and July. I will have more details later.

There will be an open house honoring Herb Kloos on Dec. 30 from 11 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at the Stevens County Courthouse. Kloos is retiring after 28 years as a county commissioner.

There will be an open house retirement party on Dec. 28 from 1-4 p.m. at Environment Control Systems of Morris in honor of Mike Schmidt who is retiring after 27 years.

Our sympathy goes out to Clay and Marlene Van Horn of Donnelly whose home was destroyed in a fire on Dec. 19.

Jack, John and Joan Kopacek took in the dedication of the remodeled courthouse on Dec. 17.

On Dec. 18 I stopped at the site of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church to see the progress being made. The framing for the fellowship hall is up and they were working on the roof. Enroute home I stopped to visit my aunt Pearl A. Anderson

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Dec. 19 and the Sunday school program at St. John's. Thanks to Laura Lehman and the rest of the teachers and staff for their hard work in putting on another fine program.

Jim and Lou Eystad brought some presents to members of the Heartland Home in Morris and visited with the residents on Dec. 18.
