Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the Kiwanis talent contest at East Side Park in Morris on June 30. The "Juharis Tribe" won first place. Afterwards I watched part of a Babe Ruth game. The black team coached by Rob Jergenson won the game over Vance Gullickson's orange team.
On July 3 Denny Bouressa and I attended the Independence Day celebration at Kongsvinger. Later our Threshing Bee royalty were participants in the Heritage Days parade in Starbuck. After the parade I stopped into the Minnewaska Lutheran Home to visit some of the residents there and also visited with Darlene Christofferson at her home. Later in the afternoon, Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the golden wedding celebration for Dick and Myrna Hufford in Morris.
The Threshing Bee royalty were also part of the 4th of July parade in Hancock. Trail Dusters queen Sami Searle was also in the parade. Later I watched some of the tractor pull. I am sure some of those pullers will also be in Donnelly for the Threshing Bee tractor pull. At our last meeting it was decided to add another class for smaller tractors.
Rev. Mike Hanson and I had a chance to sit down for a "get acquainted" visit at the Common Cup in Morris on July 6. Later Jim and Lou Eystad and I helped unload some of the items from the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church's storage trailer and into the former Prairie Trailer building. These old books, hymnals, tables, chairs, dishes, Christmas decorations and such will be sold at a garage sale next month. En route home I stopped in Donnelly to watch the second game of the women's softball doubleheader.
Joan Kopacek spent an enjoyable week at Luther Crest Bible Camp for Women's Week.
