Please note that due to weekly Bible study I will be checking my boxes on Thursday morning for the next few weeks.

It is tournament time in Minnesota, which means it's time for the first major storm of the winter. It started snowing Tuesday evening and continued until about mid-morning Wednesday. The saving grace is that temperatures have remained fairly mild so the snow will not be here too long.

In St. John's/ Kongsvinger parish news: Lenten services will be held at Kongsvinger on March 14 and at St. John's on March 21 with services at 7 p.m. Coffee fellowship will follow.

There will be a parish Bible study at St. John's on Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and repeated at Kongsvinger at 7 p.m.

The St. John's WELCA will have their St. Patrick's Day party at the West Wind Village on March 16 at 2:30 p.m.

Annual reports are in the narthex of each church.

From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: There will be a pot luck supper on Wednesdays throughout Lent at 5:45 p.m. with services at 6:45 p.m. at the church.

West Central Homes will have their annual meeting on March 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris.

The Glacial Ridge Assembly of the ELCA will be held on March 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson.

The annual meeting of the Donnelly Community Club will be held on March 12 at the Donnelly Hall beginning with a meal at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting. RSVPs requested at donnellythreshingbee@ runestone.net or call 795-2440.

The Donnelly firemen will meet at the fire hall on March 12 at 7 p.m.

Township elections will be held on March 13. Contact your town clerk or the county auditor for times and places.

JoAnn Gustafson of Ogema passed away on Feb. 26. Survivors include her daughter, Dona (Greg) Greiner, of Donnelly and their family.

Jayda Rey Hormann was born on Feb. 15 in Fargo N.D. to Devin Hormann and Chelsea Ringler of Fargo N.D. Grandparents are Dean and Leila Hormann of Starbuck and Scott and Ione Ringler of Winona. Great grandparents are John DeLong of Morris formerly of Donnelly and Duane and Lavonne Ringler of Winona.

Congratulations to the Chokio-Alberta skills fest team that finished third in a recent meet. Brady Gillespie is a member of that team.

Brady Jergenson was named a Tiger Pride winner recently.

Levin Strand was recently confirmed at the Eden Reformed Church in Herman.

Kirby Hufford was recently appointed to the board of Stevens Soil and Water Conservation District.

Shannon Kill was a SWCD conservation poster winner from St. Mary's school of Morris.

Elaine Harstad and I attended Bible study at St. John's on Feb. 23.

On Feb. 24, my aunt Pearl Anderson and I traveled to Donnelly for the Co-op Annual Meeting. We were both lucky enough to win door prizes. A good crowd was on hand for the meeting. The Co-op had another good year. After the meeting, I visited Opal and Vedar Harstad and Karen Long. I then stopped to visit with Gary Weise for a while. Enroute home, I stopped at McCollar's Jewelry for one of my frequent visits with Wally. That evening Lee and Judy Johnston and I attended the FFA Alumni supper and auction at Morris Area High School.

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the open house at the Main Street Galleria in Hoffman on Feb. 25. Afterwards I visited Don Larson and Marvel Wagner at the Good Samaritan Home. Don was recently named King at the home.

Don Sperr and I attended the Faith and Home Seminar at the Morris Area Elementary concert hall on Feb. 26.

Barry and Nancy Erdahl were among the Morris Lions helping out the community supper at the Morris Senior Center on Feb. 27. The Lions will also serve a pancake breakfast at the Spring Expo on March 11 at the Lee Community Center in Morris.

On Feb. 28 I spent some time visiting Jerry Kopacek and other friends at the West Wind Village.
