Temperatures continue to remain mild. A few rain showers have helped to green things up around here. One of the disadvantages to living in Morris is that I do not get out into the countryside as much to see what farmers are doing.
From the St. John's/Kongsvinger parish: Easter Sunday services will be at 8:30 a.m. at Kongsvinger and at 11 a.m. at St. John's. There will be no Sunday school.
The St. John's spring fling will be held on April 14 at 10:30 a.m.
The parish newsletter for April is now out. Extra copies are available in the narthex of each church.
From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: Easter Sunday services will be at 9 a.m., followed by a time of fellowship with muffins and fruit cups. There will be no Sunday school or adult forum.
The Donnelly fire department will meet at the fire hall on April 9 at 7 p.m. The Community Club also meets on April 9 at the town hall at 7 p.m. We will begin making plans for the 2012 Threshing Bee, scheduled for Aug. 25 and 26. Folks with any ideas or suggestions are encouraged to attend the meeting.
There will be city-wide garage sales in Donnelly next month. If you are interested in participating, call 246-6271 to register or for more details.
Carolyn Mae Stattelman of Clinton passed away on March 21. Survivors include a brother Ron (Sharon) Carlson and their family of Donnelly.
Michelle DuMont and Brian Wall have announced their engagement. Brian is the son of Jim and Bonnie Wall of Donnelly.
Congratulations to Carrie and Kellie Wilts who earned inventor blue and red ribbons at the Herman-Norcross elementary science fair.
Congratulations to Levin Strand who recently earned three more Boy Scout badges and also the world conservation award.
Congratulations to Alisha Roske and Cody Livingood who married in Morris on March 24.
Congratulations to the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta gymnastic team that received a gold rating for their GPA. Kourtney Geise and Savannah Aanerud are members of that team. Kourtney was named MVG and a performer of the week by the West Central Conference.
Congratulations to the Morris BPA on being named Minnesota chapter of the year. Sydney Beyer and Carly Gullickson are members and won a trip to the national competition.
Congratulations to the following who placed at the Whetstone track meet in Milbank: Beth Holland 4th 200 meter dash, Kourtney Geise 1st 400 meter dash, MaKenzie Smith second 3200 hundred, Rebekah Aanerud 2nd 300 meter hurdles. Becca Holland was a member of the 4x100 relay team that finished first. Kourtney Geise was a member of the 4x 400 team that placed third and the 4 x 800 team that placed second.

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended supper and services at Good Shepherd on March 28. Earlier in the day I attended Lenten services at First Lutheran.
Andy Brevig and I attended Bible study at St. John's on March 29. That evening I attended the seminar at Wulf Farms.
A large crowd attended the Metal to Money sale on March 30. Also that day, buyers from all over the country attended the Wulf Limousin sale -- the highest selling bull went for $42,500.
Steve Fults and I attended the 7th Congressional District Republican convention on March 31. Lee Bybeck won the endorsement to face Collin Peterson. Afterwards I visited a friend in the Bethany Home.
Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended services at Good Shepherd on April 1 and the anniversary dinner afterwards.
Jeanne Ennen and I attended the annual meeting of the Pomme de Terre River Association on April 2.
On April 4 I attended George Kramer's yard sale, stopped at the Morris Senior Center to visit with Jim and Lou Eystad who were helping out the NAPS program, visited some friends at the West Wind Village and Geesien Kill at the Heritage apartments in Morris.
