There were more rain showers during the past week, which were very welcome. However some people experienced some hail damage on Wednesday, Aug. 15.
From the St. John's/Kongsvinger parish: On Aug. 26, the parish will lead services under the big tent on the Threshing Bee grounds. There will not be services at either church that day. Tom and Pearl Horning will be leading the music, and the Vacation Bible School kids will be singing. There will be joint services at Kongsvinger on Sept. 2 at 10:15 a.m. This is a change from what was announced earlier.
From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: Allan Saugstad will have a presentation about his trip to Honduras following coffee hour on Aug. 26.
There will be a Feed My Starving Children packing event Aug. 28, 29, and 30 at the Morris Area Elementary cafeteria. Call Tammy Sperr at 589-1729 for more information. Good Shepherd will help pack on Aug. 29 from 12:30- to 2:30 p.m.
The Pedersen Funeral Home will have their annual picnic of hope and healing on Aug. 30 at 5:30 p.m. at Pomme de Terre Park.
Denny Bouressa of Donnelly passed away on Aug. 18.
Cole Leon Smith was born on Aug. 6 in Morris to Christopher and Janelle Smith of Donnelly. Grandparents are Leon and Marilyn Smith of Donnelly and Leonard and Darlene Huot of Red Lake Falls. Great grandmother is Veronica Smith of Morris.
On Aug. 18, I traveled to Fergus Falls where I met Mark Koepke of West Fargo and brought him to stay at my place. He plans to stay until Sept. 2 visiting with friends in the area. You are welcome to stop by my house to visit with him or call him here.
The Threshing Bee is this weekend. I hope many of you are planning on coming to Donnelly to help us celebrate. A new event this year is country school reunion for students who went to districts 7, 33 and 37. You are invited meet under the big top tent after services on Sunday.
The theme is "The 'Bee' Something for Everyone." The website is: www.donnellythreshing bee.com. Events start on Saturday morning with the pancake breakfast and continue into the evening with a dance at the Donnelly hall. The main event on Saturday will be the tractor pull. Sunday starts with an open air worship service and concludes with the cash drawing. The main events are the parade and the horse pull. The area churches will again be serving food on both days, there will be exhibits in the school house and depot, activities on both days including threshing, horseshoe tournament, flea market and demonstrations. I am planning on having my golf cart on the grounds again this year for use by handicapped individuals.

The Community Club is conducting a Silent Auction on Aug. 26 near the Depot from 2 - 4 p.m. This fundraiser is to support the upgrade for the Royalty float.
