The weather has been typical of Minnesota -- very changeable.  Thanksgiving weekend was cloudy and cold, with some snow, but this week the sun came out and it has been much nicer weather.

In St. John's/ Kongsvinger News: The KCLW brunch that was to be held today (Saturday) will not be held due to the funeral.

There will be a Christmas carol sing-along at St. John's on Dec. 2 at 2:30 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship. 

The parish will once again have a hat/mitten tree for the Salvation Army.  Contact the parish office at 246-3211 for details.

From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: There will be advent services on Dec. 5, 12 and 19 at 7 p.m.   There will not be supper this year.

There will be no adult Bible study after coffee hour until next year.

The following events are scheduled for today (Saturday):

There will be a "Toys for Tots" drive at First Lutheran Church of Morris from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

There will be a World Mission Mart festival at Federated Church of Morris from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and after services on Dec. 2.

There will be an open house and bake sale at the Stevens County Museum in Morris from 9 a.m. - noon.

The annual open house and bazaar at the Morris Senior Center will begin at 9 a.m.

A presentation of "Angels Among Us" by Wayne and Donna Jo Kopitzke will be held Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris.

Former Donnelly resident Denny Anderson passed away on Nov. 21. Steve Fults and I attended his visitation and his funeral.  He was a dear friend and I will miss him very much.  After the funeral I visited with Verle and Della Dunn at their home in Donnelly.

Florentine Erickson passed away Nov. 27.   Survivors include her son, Gordon and niece, Jeanne Ennen.

Levin Stand recently earned the rank of Life Scout.

Randy and Karla (Giese) Schmiesing were recently named Stevens County's Outstanding Conservationists by the Soil and Water Conservation District. 

On Nov. 23, I stopped at the West Wind Village to visit Mary Dripps, Marjorie Armstrong and Bill Underwood. 

Janice and Jeanne Ennen were among the vendors at the craft event at the National Guard Amory in Morris on Nov. 23.  Earlier I stopped by Northern Impressions and had an opportunity to see two of Santa's reindeer, Donner and Blitzen.  I also stopped by McCollar Jewelry to visit with Wally and help him put up some Christmas decorations

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the following events at Good Shepherd: Thanksgiving eve services and coffee fellowship on Nov. 21, the presentation by Allan Saugstad on his trip to El Salvador on Nov. 25, and decorating the church for Christmas on Nov. 26. We also attended the sing-along at the Eden Reformed Church in Herman on Nov. 25.

On Nov. 27, I visited a friend in Alexandria and had lunch with my cousin Jan. On my way home I stopped to visit my friend Inga Mae Urke in Starbuck.

On Dec. 3, the Red Hatters will meet at the Herman Bar and Grill at 9 a.m.

The Donnelly city council and Rendsville 4-H will also meet on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
