Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Just when we thought it was safe to put the snow removal equipment away, it was pressed into service again on April 11. We got several inches of snow accompanied by blowing and drifting bad enough to close most schools in the area for the day. Sunday afternoon brought more of the same and as I am writing this, schools were once again closed because of the weather.
In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: There are two upcoming bridal showers in the parish. One is for Mindy Janachovsky (Mark and Karen) and another is for Dani Kloos (Phil and Kris). I will have more information later with dates, times and places. If you would like to be on the shower committee for Mindy, contact Jan Greiner or Peggy Wilke; for Dani’s, please contact Gail Kloos.
In Good Shepherd Lutheran Church news: K.K. Alavia, a Lutheran pastor and converted Muslim from India, will tell his story on April 23 at 7 p.m.
Weekly studies on "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis will continue every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. until May 15.
A spring rummage sale and supper will be held at Faith Lutheran Church of Morris on April 24 from 4-7 p.m.
The Peoria Apostolic Church choir will be in concert at Morris Area Elementary School concert hall on April 27 at 7:30 p.m.
The Stevens County Humane Society will meet on April 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Morris Senior Center.
The Stevens County chapter of Habitat for Humanity will hold a pork chop supper on April 25 at the Old No. 1 Southside from 4:30-7 p.m. A free will offering will be collected.
A diabetes seminar will be held at the Morris Senior Center on May 2 from 5-7 p.m.
The Bookmobile will be in Donnelly at 3:30 p.m. on April 29.
Tiger gymnastic awards include Savannah Aanerud as most improved and Kourtney Giese being named most valuable gymnast.
Tristan Raths won third place in his weight class at the Northland Youth Wrestling Association regional tournament held on March 23 in New London.
The following were among those winning awards at the Morris Area FFA awards night on April 15: Becca Holland, Jonna Moser, Tyler Heinrichs, Tom Holland, Sara Stallman and Rebekah Aanerud.
Mark Koepke and I attended the GWFC rummage sale in Morris on April 13, then traveled to Donnelly for the St John’s spring fling. On Sunday, we attended the benefit for Corey Rohloff in Morris.
Jeanne Ennen reports that there was good turnout for the birthday dinner at Kongsvinger despite the bad weather.
I attended the “Word at Work” course at Good Shepherd on April 17.
