Former Detroit Lakes area resident Dorothy M. Wise, 81, of Long Lake, Minn., died Sunday, December, 2, 2007.
Dorothy began her nursing career in the Military Nursing Cadet Corps during World War II and then continued in the nursing profession for 30-plus years. She spent many years as a Cub Scout den mother and was an EMT for the Hickson, N.D., Fire Department. She was also active in her community and church.
Surviving Dorothy are her children, Daniel (Kathleen), Jeanette, Stan (Lorrie) Tim, Harlow (Pam) and Marguerite; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grand children; sisters, Jean Peters and Mae Hardin; brother, Clyde Furbur; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her her loving husband, Richard; daughter, Susan; and son, Steven.
Visitation was to be from 3:30-7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake, continuing for one hour prior to funeral services on Thursday.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Rettinger Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fort Snelling, St. Paul.
