Duane Carbert passed away in his home of natural causes on May 25, 2011. Born to Ralph Carbert and Linda (Toop) Stark on August 20, 1947, Duane grew up in Morris, and graduated from Morris High School in 1965. He went on to technical school to become a draftsman, and became acknowledged through the years as a self-taught engineer working for many companies who developed technology for the defense industry. He was a successful carpenter and enjoyed working with his hands. In addition to his mechanical feats, he loved spending time at his cabin on Trillium Lake in Hackensack with family and friends. He will be missed by all and finally will be able to join the love of his life, Penny Carbert, who passed away in 2001.
In addition to his wife, Penny, he is preceded in death by his father and mother, and brother-in-law, Gene Nygaard.
He is survived by his children, Cord (Casey), Chad, Terra, and Christine Carbert, his grandchildren Tyler Jacoby, Clayton Carbert-Sandberg, Avery and Welles Carbert, as well as his siblings Donna , Arthur (Sara), Carol Nygaard, Lee, Hugh and Diana and his step-mother Betty Carbert.
A celebration of Duane's life was held Tuesday, May 31, 2011 with a lunch that followed at the Thomson-Dougherty Mansion, 2535 Park Avenue, Minneapolis. Gathering of friends began at 10 a.m.
