Duane was born to Samuel and Florence (Iverson) Jones on Jan. 25, 1930 in St. Paul. He was raised in Lake Park, by his mother Florence and stepfather, Melvin Mikkelson.
Duane married Judith Litzau on June 7, 1959 at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in the Toad Lake area. Duane worked at various jobs throughout his life, which included stints with Madison Silo Company, Fargo-Detroit Ice Company, Hartman Hide and Fur, Bristlin Construction, Drewes' Construction, Picture Rock and RDO Industries.
Duane enjoyed working on cars, observing nature and the little things that made it unique, fishing and most of all, the time he spent with his family.
Surviving Duane are his wife, Judith Jones; four sons, Duane Jones Jr. of Frazee, Alan Jones of Osage, Roger Jones of Detroit Lakes and Bruce (Paula) Jones of Audubon; 20 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Duane in death were his parents, Samuel and Florence; stepfather Melvin; daughter Susan; granddaughter Kirsten; and one brother.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, March 10 at Shell Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Osage.
