Morris 3

Benson 2

On Friday afternoon the Morris Eagles defeated the Benson Chiefs 3-2 at the Hancock Field. Both teams had four Hancock players on the roster.

There was a nice crowd on hand with some former Hancock Orphan players in the crowd.

Chad Christianson, who resides just a few miles out of Hancock, got the start and the win. He pitched eight and 1/3 innings allowing only seven hits and two runs. Eric Asche came on to get the last two outs of the game and earn the save. Benson left the tying run at second base.

Morris scored one run with an Adam Torkelson single in the second scoring Matt Carrington who had reached with a single. Torkelson also singled scoring Dan Folie in the sixth.

In the seventh, former Hancock Owl Kirby Marquart singled scoring another former Owl Cory Marquart.

Dumont 12

Morris 2

In a game that will probably decide the No. 1 seed in the Wood division the Dumont Saints easily dismantled the Morris Eagles Sunday.

Morris had a 2-0 lead after three innings on a Kirby Marquart sacrifice fly and a Folie homer, but that was all the Eagles scored.

The Saints charged ahead off Chase Rambow with a two-run homer and solo shot in the fourth inning. Rambow allowed three more in the fifth before his day was finished.

Folie led the Eagle attack with a 2-for-4 day and a home run.

Buck Johnson (Dumont's three-hitter) had hits in his first four at bats and he had hits in his previous six at bats the day before against Canby. Finally in the seventh inning, Asche got Buck to line out to left field to break his hit streak at 10 straight.

Morris is 14-6 overall and 9-3 in the Land O' Ducks League.
