Early run dooms Cougars

Minnesota Morris (1-1) fell behind early and could never overcome the Gustavus Gusties (2-0), falling 70-38 on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties used an 18-1 run in the first 7:30 of the game to gain separation.
After the opening run the Gusties maintained control of the first half. The lead would grow to as large as 23 in the opening twenty minutes of play. Gustavus held UMM to 25% shooting in the first half and took a 36-21 lead into the halftime break.
Morris used an 11-2 run that extended from the final three minutes of the first half and the first minute of the second half, cutting the lead to 14 behind a Kendra Wycoff three-point basket. Unfortunately the Cougars could not get any closer and fell 70-38 on the afternoon.
Emily Auch led the Cougars in scoring on Saturday with nine points in 22 minutes off the bench. Tori Holt had six points and seven boards. Cori Becker also added six points. For just the third time in her career Kayla Kraemer was held scoreless, the last time was her third ever college game last season against Jamestown. Abby Fragodt finished the game with four points and five rebounds.
The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Concordia Moorhead.
