Morris Area took a five-run lead in the first inning and held on for a 9-4 win over Benson Friday at home.

The Tigers sent nine batters to the plate in the first inning and its first five batters in the lineup scored. Morris Area added two more runs in the fourth and one in both the fifth and sixth innings.

With a comfortable lead in hand, Matt Lembcke then threw four more scoreless innings before the Braves plated four runs in the sixth and seventh. Lembcke struck out five and gave up just one earned run without issuing a walk to earn the win.

Ryan Beyer had two hits for the Tigers. Tyler Hanson, Mitch Carbert, Cole Riley, Tanner Berning, and Mitch Kill had one hit each.

Cody Jaeger and Brennan Kent both had two singles for Benson.
