West Central Minnesota Communities Action and the North Country Food Bank are holding an emergency storm food recovery distribution for Pope County on Monday, Aug. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. or until the food is gone. The distribution site is at Central Square, 105 NE 2nd Avenue in Glenwood.
Due to recent storms that passed through Pope County, residents have been without electricity and this distribution is an attempt to help supply food to them.
Storm impacted households may receive home deliveries free of charge by calling WCMCA's front desk at 1-800-492-4805 to set up a drop off time.
Qualifyiing to receive food is simple. The only qualification is that you eat. You are asked to bring you own boxes, baskets or bins for carrying the food you receive.
Those attending the distribution are asked to park on the east side of the building and enter through the east door off the old gymnasium.
The food is provided by North Country Food Bank, Inc. out of Crookston. All who attend this distribution will receive an abundance of grocery items, including produce items if available.
If you are unable to attend, you may send someone in you place as long as the proxy is able to register you for this.
WCMCA is alos looking for volunteers to help with this distribution. Retired & Senior Volunteers are assisting, but more help is needed. Please contact Heather Thormodson at 1-800-492-4805 to volunteer.
