Emma (Leuthard) Meyer
Emma (Leuthard) Meyer, age 91 of Morris, passed away on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008.
A private memorial service for Emma Meyer will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008 at 1 p.m. at West Wind Village in Morris.
Emma Agnes Leuthard was born Oct. 30, 1916 in Chokio to Thomas and Anna Leuthard. She was the third child of eleven children. Eight girls and three boys. Emma grew up on the family farm in Chokio and attended country school at Marty Grove, district 55 in Chokio.
Emma had wonderful memories of playing in the grove of trees on the farm. She loved to play with her brothers and sisters, ice skating, sledding, and barn dances when she was older.
She married Jack Meyer on Nov. 14, 1935 in Chokio. They had seven children, three girls and four boys.
Emma had worked at many jobs throughout her life. She loved to garden, sew and cook. Especially bake bread which she gave to her neighbors. She also fixed hair for her friends. She had lived in Utah, New Mexico, and Texas and then moved back to Minnesota in her later years. Emma is loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Emma is survived by daughters: Mary Ann Johanneck and Lola Simmons of Minnesota and Joan Lawrence of Texas; sons: Roger Meyer of Alaska; David A. Meyer of Texas and Robert Meyer of Minnesota; sisters: Helen Mickelson, Lil Ritter, Gen Mullin, Louise Eystad and Francis Zimmerman and brother Carl Leuthard all of Minnesota; 44 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her husband John; son Charles; her parents; brothers Peter and Henry; sisters Margaret Johnson and Lorraine Eckoff.
