Erickson hits 1,000 in Alex loss
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta suffered a 58-55 loss to Alexandria in non-conference boys' basketball action Saturday on the road.
The Tigers' Alex Erickson scored his 1,000th point of his career early in the game on an inside basket. Erickson had 800 points with Chokio-Alberta before it paired with Morris Area for basketball this season. He now has 1,007 career points.
It was only the second loss for the Tigers this season. The Cardinals improved to 11-11 overall.
After leading by 10 at halftime, the Cardinals expanded their lead to 14 points in the second half.
The Tigers clawed their way back and were within two points with under 10 seconds left when they had an open three-point opportunity to take the lead. The shot missed and Alexandria rebounded and made one free throw on the subsequent foul.
Corey Nohl scored 14 points to lead the Tigers. Erickson's game total was 10.
Nohl and Eric Riley grabbed seven rebounds apiece.
