Fire destroys New York Mills home in morning blaze

New York Mills, Minn. -- A fire destroyed a home here this morning as firefighters helped one person escape the blaze.

New York Mills Fire Chief Reed Jacobson said no one was hurt in the fire. Two people were in the home, but one had left before the fire broke out. A second person was helped from the home by firefighters, but did not suffer injuries or severe smoke inhalation.

The home, at 121 Broadway Ave. N., was a complete loss, the chief said.

The Perham Fire Department, New York Mills Police Department and Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office assisted on the scene.
