On Saturday, Nov. 20, the Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs defeated the University of Minnesota, Morris Cougars in women's basketball by a score of 79-59. The Hancock varsity, JV, and junior high girls basketball players attended this game to watch former Owls athletes, Jenny Noordmans (UMM), Tara Thielke (UMM) vs. Bree Holleman (SmSU). Jenny Noordmans scored 12 points in this contest while Tara Thielke scored five points and Bree Holleman scored nine points. The last time that all three of these girls played together was the state championship game against Fulda.

The varsity and JV girls traveled to Marshall High School to scrimmage against Murray County Central, Southwest Minnesota Christian, and Marshall High School. It was great to scrimmage against some quality teams that they don't normally compete against. The varsity girls looked extremely sharp against MCC and SMC, but struggled with our ball handling/passing against Marshall High School. The Owls had a nice balanced scoring attack throughout the day and played with a ton of heart and intensity. The Lady Owls had nine practices the first week, so they looked conditioned and fundamentally sound. The younger Owls had an opportunity to scrimmage against the JV teams which gave Coach Christianson a chance to evaluate these athletes.

Overall, it was a very fun day and was an excellent opportunity for some team bonding.
