Frances M. Olson, 89, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, December 9, 2007 at St. Mary's Nursing Center, Detroit Lakes.
Frances M. Leitheiser was born to Joseph and Cora (Gobel) Leitheiser on April 1, 1918 in rural Detroit Lakes. She grew up and attended country school in Erie Township. She worked for a family in Detroit Lakes as a housekeeper until her marriage to Albert H. Olson on Oct. 31, 1938, in Detroit Lakes. They lived and farmed in the Audubon, Minnesota area for many years. They moved into Detroit Lakes in 1988. Albert passed away Feb. 25, 1994. Frances has been a resident at St. Mary's Nursing Center since April 2000.
Frances liked to bake, play bingo, knit, embroidery, gardening, fishing, and her coffee. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Surviving Frances are her two sons, Lon Richard (Alice) Olson and Larry Olson, both of Detroit Lakes; one daughter, Eileen (Harlan) Huseby of Audubon; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; four step-grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia (Charles) Chadbourne of Detroit Lakes and Dorothy (Elvin) Anderson of Lake Park; two brothers, Ralph (Vi) Leitheiser of West Fargo and Charles S. (Deb) Leitheiser of Detroit Lakes; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Albert H. Olson (Feb. 25, 1994); her parents; and five sisters, Margaret Penhiter, Ruth Moe, Veronica Tucker, Mary Sagmo and Helen Stoen.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. Casket bearers will be Frances' grandsons David Bjorgan, Allan Bjorgan, Bill Paulson, James Cossette, Charlie Teiken, Michael Olson, Joe Olson, Matt Olson and Loren Green.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
