Francis Doll, 92, of Henning, formerly of Deer Creek, died on Wednesday Sept. 8, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday Sept. 13, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Henning with Pastor Randy Maland officiating. Music is provided by Diane Gutknecht, organist and Steve Young, vocalist. Honorary Pallbearers are: Tina Juvrud, Sara Schelske, Becky Struck, Beverly Fields, Sara Zuelow, Dawn Klimek, Jenny Davison, Liz Doll, Jessi Doll, Jamie Toftum, Janelle Doll, Amanda Fritz, and Amber Porter. Francis Vernie Doll was born on May 23, 1918 in Dumont, the son of Theodore and Christine (Schmitz) Doll. He married Ethel Anderson on July 28, 1941. He served in the US Army from April of 1942 until April of 1945. He landed on Omaha Beach on D-day I. He rode with Gen. Dwight Eisenhower for about a year. Francis was a farmer and a carpenter. He played any musical instrument and loved to interact with everybody.
Francis is survived by his children: Pat Schelske, St. Cloud, Jean (Daryl) Fields, New Hope, Linda (Richard) Zuelow, Crystal, Jim Doll, Deer Creek, Jeff (Barb) Doll, Deer Creek, Jill Doll, St. Cloud, Tom (Connie) Doll, Hewitt, and Fran Doll, Alexandria; son-in-law: Ron Kranitz, Minong, Wis.; 22 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; two brothers and 5 sisters.
Francis is preceded in death by his wife: Ethel; children: Danny, Rob, Dolly, and Tim; five sisters; and two brothers.
