Gators earn All-Conference honors at West Central meet

Paige Entzi of the Minnewaska Area/Morris Area girls' swimming and diving team was named conference champion with a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke at the West Central Conference Meet Saturday at St. John's. She finished the race in 1:05.67.

The Gators' 400 freestyle relay team earned honorable mention accolades, along with fourth-place ribbons, with a time of 4:04.59. The team includes Tiana Barsness, Natalie Johnston, Entzi, and Laura Moe.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Entzi, Natalie Holte, Brittany Opdahl, and Bridget Opdahl took fifth place with a time 2:04.31.

Also in the 200 medley relay the team of Emily Larson, Caitlyn Parsons, Emma Roberts, and Alexis Banister finished in 12th place with a time of 2:14.57.

Kelsey Greenwaldt finished the 200-yard freestyle in 14th place with a time of 2:19.50.

Other swimmers in the 200 freestyle included Dani Boutain in 20th place in 2:20.72, Johnston in 21st place with a 2:20.82, and Cindy Dahlseng with a 2:34.71 for 30th place.

Entzi dropped time in the 200-yard individual medley for 12th place with a time of 2:36.60.

Also swimming the individual medley were Laura Moe in 18th place with a 2:40.47, Banister with a 2:59.97 for 30th place, and Hannah Berg in 3:05.56 for 31st place.

All the Gator swimmers in the 50-yard freestyle dropped times. Bridget Opdahl took sixth place in 26.54. Barsness dropped to 27.93 for 15th place. Parson took 29th place with a time of 30.83 and Larson finished 31st with a 31.74.

Caroline Fritz took sixth place in the diving competition with a score of 235.00. Julie Helender finished 11th with a 190.

Brittany Opdahl took 14th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:14.06. McKayla Smith finished 25th with a 1:22.56. Emma Roberts dropped four seconds to finish 28th with a 1:28.78. Berg took 30th with a 1:31.91.

Three Gators dropped times in the 100-yard freestyle, as well. Moe took ninth with a 1:00.25, Bridget Opdahl finished 12th in 1:01.16, and Barsness finished in 1:01.77 for 16th place.

Greenwaldt took 20th place in 1:02.40.

Johnston dropped her tim e to 6:13.00 to finish 13th in the 500-yard freestyle. Boutain took 20th with a 6:27.86. Banister also dropped her time to 6:51.91 for 28th place. Dahlseng took 30th with a 7:16.56.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Barsness, the Opdahl sisters, and Moe took eighth with a time of 1:50.83. Also in the 200 freestyle relay, the team of Boutain, Greenwaldt, Holte, and Johnston took 14th with a 1:56.32.

Smith finished 25th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:17.63, while Roberts finished with a 1:23.08 for 30th place.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Brittany Opdahl finished 15th with a 1:21.97, Parsons took 30th with a time drop of 1:31.32, and Cassie Sandberg was 31st in 1:46.52.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Roberts, Boutain, Banister, and Greewaldt finished 16th with a time of 4:32.22
