Gators host Marshall at RFC
The Minnewaska Area/ Morris Area girls' swimming and diving team hosted the final home meet of the season at the Regional Fitness Center Tuesday, Oct. 7.
The Gators were outscored by Marshall 108-73, but a few more swimmers qualified for the section meet and many others recorded dropped times in their events.
The Gator divers took the top three spots. Caroline Fritz was first with a score of 137.35. Jesika Tabor placed second with a score of 131.65. Alex Kopel finished in third with a 125.60.
Paige Entzi and Brittany Opdahl qualified for sections in the 200-meter freestyle. Entzi had a time of 2:14.19 and Opdahl had a 2:22.50.
Dani Boutain qualified for sections with a time of 6:26.73 in the 500 freestyle.
Natalie Johnston dropped her time in the 500 free to 6:22.67.
Two Gator relay teams placed second against Marshall.
The 200-meter medley relay team of Laura Moe, B. Opdahl, McKayla Smith, and Tiana Barsness took second with a time of 2:13.20.
The 200-meter freestyle relay team of Kelsey Greenwaldt, Brittany Opdahl, Bridget Opdahl, and Barsness finished with a time of 1:53.03 for second place.
Other dropped times included Brittany Opdahl's time of 1:20.72 in the 100-meter breast stroke and Bridget Opdahl's time of 1:23.22 in the same event.
All of the Gator 100-meter freestyle swimmers dropped times. Moe swam a 100.91, Emily Larson had a time of 109.77, Cindy Dahlseng swam a 110.33, and Cassie Sandberg had a 121.23.
Junior Varsity
The junior varsity fell to Marshall by a score of 109-45.
The 200-meter medley relay team of Colleen Rutledge, Brenna Monroe, Augusta Finzel, and Kendra Harpstead took first place with a time of 2:31.50.
Julie Helander placed second in the diving competition with a score of 47.90.
Cindy Dahlseng dropped her time in the 200-meter freestyle to 2:32.29.
Megan Sanders' time in the 50-meter freestyle dropped to 36.11.
