Gerald Francis Bedel was born Aug. 4, 1943 in Morris to Vincent and Alta Bedel. Gerald passed away Sept. 6, 2010 in Boise, Idaho.
Jerry grew up in Minnesota and attended Morris High School and after graduation in 1964, he joined the Army. After serving in the military he moved to California and went to work for Sears for the next 21 years.
He met and married the love of his life Paulette Butler, July 4, 1969 and they moved to Seattle, Wash. In 1975 they were blessed with a baby girl they named Kimberly. Kim was the apple of her Dad's eye. He was a very proud father. In 1980 the family moved to Boise, Idaho where Jerry worked for Idaho First Bank for eight years. During the summer of 1983 their son Jason Christopher joined their family. Their family was now complete. Jerry went to work for the Idaho State Lottery in 1988 and retired in 2009 from Blue Cross of Idaho.
Jerry's first love, since he was a child of eight years old, was boxing. He trained with the best of them and has made many friendships from this sport. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Paulette and his daughter, Kimberly and son, Jason. He leaves behind his first granddaughter, Kimora and six brothers and sisters; Barbara Coulter of Shakopee, Ron Bedel of Hancock, Rochelle Tignor of Rialto, Calif., Lynette Swenson of De Graff, Ken Bedel of Vancouver, Wash., and Sally Thompson of Rialto, Calif..
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 at the Cloverdale Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow.
