Gerald "Jerry" W. Selk, age 64, of Benson, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at his home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Monday, March 17 at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson with Rev. David Andert officiating. Burial will be in Benson City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 16 at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service.

Gerald William "Jerry" Selk was born June 30, 1943, in Morris, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Marie (Logan) Selk. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. He grew up and attended school in Morris, and graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1961. He went on to attend Whapeton School of Science. After college, Jerry worked for Schmidgall Concrete. He then joined United Parcel Service and worked there for 25 years. He retired from UPS and went to work for Jim Grossman Irrigation until 2005.

On Dec. 23, 2000, Jerry was united in marriage to Debbie Kay Maanum at their home in Benson by Rev. Roger Olness.

Jerry enjoyed coaching little league baseball, playing softball, and shooting pool. He enjoyed ice fishing, gardening, bird watching and being outdoors. He especially loved being a part of his family and enjoyed his grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his wife Debbie Selk of Benson; five children: Steve (Melinda) Selk of Lakewood, CO, Beth (Brian) DeWenter of Alexandria, Craig (Lisa) Selk of Austin, Melissa (Jeremy) Erickson of Benson, and Martha (Aaron) Goff of Benson; nineteen grandchildren; sister, Eileen (Frank) Lembcke of Morris; brother, Robert (Virginia) Selk of Fairbault; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Fred and Marie; and his grandparents.
