The plans for the Hancock All-School Reunion on July 6-8 are progressing. The theme is "Remembering past, present and future Owls." The reunion committee is encouraging people to get their registration forms in so an accurate count can be determined.
The first event on the schedule for the reunion will be an Alumni Golf Tournament on Friday, July 6 to be held at Pomme de Terre golf club. The tournament is sponsored by Buddies Bar and Grill and the Hancock School Foundation. Those wishing to participate, can sign-up by contacting Kurt Hanson at firstname.lastname@example.org or Joel Flaten at email@example.com. The shotgun start is at 9 a.m.
Registration for the All-School Reunion will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. at the school on Friday and also on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to noon.
Saturday will be the big day with events kicking off at 8 a.m. with the Hancock Lions 5K run and walk and the Firemen's breakfast.
The Little League All-Star game will begin at 10 a.m. and the bank is planning to do the coin search in sand near the Little League field at 11 a.m.
Food stands and free entertainment will be at the Water Tower park starting at 11 a.m. The kiddie parade will line up by the park and start at 1 p.m. All children are welcome to participate in the parade.
The grand parade will line up at the school and start at 1:30 p.m. The Hancock Lions Club would like to encourage classes to have a float in this parade. A lot more entries are needed to make this parade bigger than ever. Remember the past, present and future Owls from your class, business or organization on a float in the parade. Contact Joel Flaten at 320-392-5109 to sign up.
There will be an art sale and Blue Grass Jam at the Della Conroy Art Studio across from the baseball field following the parade. Pick up your lawn chair after the parade and get comfortable at the studio and listen to some great Blue Grass music by local musicians.
This will lead up to the evening events that will begin with a catered meal from 5-7 p.m. at the school open to anyone wishing to attend. To register for the supper, you can sign-up on the web site, use the form included with the letter, or contact Betty Gillespie.
Following the meal, a program will start at 7:30 p.m. in the school gym. An Alumni choir will perform so if you are interested in being part of the choir, you can sign up for this in the same manner as the meal or attend one of the practices. A practice schedule will be running in the Record. The evening will wrap up with a street dance at Inn Like Flinn's featuring the band Electric Almighty from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m. and fireworks at dusk.
On Sunday, the Hancock Christian Reformed Church will be celebrating their 100th anniversary with special services and a meal. Life Right Ministries will have a concession stand in town on Sunday.
