Hancock All-School Reunion program
A quartet of Gary Smith, Gary Strei, Edgar VerSteeg and John VerSteeg sang songs from the 50s as part of the 'Past' portion of the program. 'Future' stars performing included a duet by Jordan Haumann and Tori Pahl and a dance performance by Parker Schmidgall.
Troy Wiese led the crowd in the O-W-L-S cheer and Hancock cheerleaders led the school song.
Sloneker commended a few groups and individuals. He recognized the alumni and friends who "went out on a limb" and built Buddies which he thought has been a wonderful addition to the town.
The state champions fromt he school were recognized including Rob Payne who was a state champion in wrestling in 1982 and the 1997 girls and boys basketball teams who took the state championships.
Awards were given as follows:
Oldest graduate present: Fremont Healy, 91.5 years old
Oldest teacher present: Frances Van Zomeran 95 years old
Oldest Administrator or school board member present: Bill Ferns
Alumni couple present, married the longest: Vern and Barb Browns, married 61 years
Oldest staff member present: Juel Stenson, bus driver, 93 years old who commented that those were the best days of his life.
A tribute to Millie Goll, written by Carole Johnson was read, and is shared in the newspaper.
The winner of the quilt raffle was Marilyn Lenz.
The Hancock Community Choir, including many alumni, took everyone on a "Sentimental Journey" through song and also recognized members in the audience who served in various branches of the military.
