Hancock city council approves budget
Morris Minnesota 607 Pacific Avenue 56267

The Hancock city council members approved the final budget for 2014 at their meeting on Dec. 9. City Clerk Jennifer VerSteeg told the council members that she had gone over the entries made previously and found one duplicate line item. She adjusted this and also revised the property tax amounts with the results being a budget that will require no increases to taxpayers next year. This was the ultimate goal of the council members and they were pleased to have achieved it.

In other business the council members learned that the city had received over $11,000 in FEMA money due to storm damage and clean-up costs after the large storm that hit the area last summer. A portion of this money will be used to replace some of the trees that were lost on city boulevards.

Fire Chief Kyle Rose reported that the fire department is selling the old pumper and equipment van. Sealed bids are being called for on each of these items with the deadline of Dec. 27.

The work is complete on the old city garage and Public Works director John Jepma will now work on putting equipment back in the shed.

The liquor licenses were renewed for Buddies and Inn Like Flinn.
