Hancock city council decides to divide public works position into two jobs
The Hancock City Council met Monday night for a work session on the city budget but also made some decisions about the city public works department. After going through each budget item in the various departments line by line, a discussion took place about the public works department.
Prior to the meeting, Ryan Mogard, who has been filling in on an interim basis, was asked if he would be willing to continue on a part-time basis. He has agreed to a one year contract to work two days a week and be on call. Councilmen Brett Nelson and Dennis Schroeder will be working on a new job description for the full-time city maintenance person. The city will be advertising for a maintenance person whom they hope to hire with a water/sewer certification in order to help out Mogard when needed. Therefore the city will no longer have one full-time person taking care of everything with part-time help, but rather a full-time maintenance person with a water/sewer part-time employee.
