The Hancock Owls girls basketball team defeated the Wheaton-Herman-Norcross Warriors 70-42 on the home court on Feb. 8. With this victory, the Owls claimed their fifth straight Pheasant Conference title.
Hancock played an outstanding first half and jumped out to a 41-14 lead at half-time while knocking down eight three-pointers to set the tone. In the second half they worked on various half court defenses.
Stat leaders were:
Illissa Koehl 25 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds
Courtney Greiner 15 points, 7 rebounds
Kendra Schmidgall 13 points, 5 steals, 5 assists
Aria Walstad 8 points, 8 assists
Olivia Koehl 5 points, 2 rebounds
Abby Ascheman 2 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals
Shae Brown 2 points
"As a team we shot 25 of 56 (45 percent) which includes 8 for 18 from three point land. We also shot an impressive 12 of 14 (86 percent) from the free-throw line." said coach Jodi Holleman. "This was an excellent team victory for the Lady Owls."
Hancock Dental Clinic sponsored the balls that were thrown out by the Varsity Players.
