Hancock football team loses to Brandon Evansville in home opener
The first quarter found both teams very evenly matched as B-E scored on their opening drive and the Owls scored on their fourth possession of the quarter. The defense got the ball back for the Owls and they were able to take a shot at the end zone. Taylor Holleman connected with Jordan Miller for a 62 yard throw and catch, extra point pass failed.
The second quarter remained close as both teams would score early in the second quarter. Hancock was finally able to put together a nice drive against a tough Charger defense and struck pay dirt when Holleman found Austin Steege for an 11 yard touchdown, extra point pass failed. With seven minutes to go in the half the score was 12-16 in favor of the Chargers. The Owls were shut out of the endzone the remainder of the night.
B-E would go on to score two more times in the half, for a half time score of 24-12.
After the break the Chargers came out and scored on their first play from scrimmage and never looked back.
"We have to find a way to limit the big play. The Chargers had touchdowns of 21, 37, 55 along with three short yardage touchdowns," said Coach Chad Christianson. "If we can avoid the big play we will be in a good position come the end of the game."
