Hancock girls basketball team improves to 5-0

On Friday, Dec. 16, the Hancock girl's basketball team defeated the Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Wolverines on the road by a score of 59-22. Stats were as follows:

Team Shooting percent 2's = 14/31 (45percent)

Shooting percent 3's = 5/20 (25percent)

Overall percent = 19/51 (37 percent) Free-Throw percent = 14/24 (58 percent)

Total Team Turnovers = 19

"I was very pleased with our defensive effort the entire night holding the Wolverines to 22 points" said Coach Jodi Holleman. "I was also impressed with how the girls crashed the boards pulling down 37 rebounds. Olivia Koehl led the way with 10 boards, followed by Kendra Schmidgall and Courtney Greiner with eight each. It was great to have another balanced scoring attack. Karol Algarate came into the game in the opening half and pulled down 5 rebounds and played outstanding defense."

The Owls improve to 5-0 with this win and 2-0 in the Pheasant Conference.

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, the Hancock Owls girl's basketball team defeated the Battle Lake Battlers, on the road by a score of 62-35 . Stats were as follows:

Team Shooting percent 2s = 19/42 (45 percent)

Shooting percent 3s = 5/12 (42 percent)

Overall percent = 24/54 (44.4 percent)

Free-Throw percent = 9/15 (60.0 percent)

Total Team Turnovers = 13

"Shae Brown and Serandon Bigalke played some outstanding basketball on both ends of the floor" stated Coach Jodi Holleman. "Offensively they each scored in double figures (which includes five treys) and defensively they were all over the floor combining for 12 steals. It was great to have four players reach double figures."

The Owls improved to 4-0 with this win.
