On Tuesday, Dec. 14, the Hancock girls basketball team defeated the Central Minnesota Christian (CMCS) Blue Jays from Section 3A by a score of 55-43.

This game was a battle from start to finish against a very athletic and excellent shooting CMCS basketball team.

"I was pleased with the disclipline shown in the final five minutes along with the free-throw shooting down the stretch to seal the win," said coach Jodi Holleman. "This was a total team effort."

As a team the Owls shot 18/47 (38 percent) which includes 0/10 from beyond the arc. They shot 19/27 (70 percent) from the charity stripe.

Hancock pulled down 22 rebounds and CMCS pulled down 31 boards.

"Once again, I was very pleased with the balanced scoring attack," said Holleman.

The Owls traveled to Ortonville on Thursday, Dec. 16 and defeated the Trojans by a score of 51-33 in Pheasant Conference action.

The score was tied 10-10 with seven minutes remaining in the first half and Hancock took a gamble and tightened up the presses. The Owls went on a 15-0 run to take a 25-10 halftime lead. It was a defensive battle by both teams in the second half.

As a team the Owls shot 15/40 (38 percent) which includes 3/8 from beyond the arc. They also shot an impressive 18/22 (82 percent) from the free-throw line.

"I was disappointed that we turned the ball over 23 times in this game which is a season high," said Holleman.
