"This was a nice team effort against a very athletic Dawson-Boyd team," said Owls coach Jodi Holleman. "I was very pleased with the balanced scoring attack with three girls in double figures. Kendra Schmidgall played a great game and recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. We struggled from the field with our shooting (35 percent), but did cash in on 17/24 from the free-throw line. All of the girls did a great job of boxing out with 31 boards.

On Friday, Dec. 11 the Owls played Montevideo their home opener and defeated the Thunderhawks 57-43.

"It was great to play on the home court after traveling to two scrimmages and three games on the road," Holleman said. "The girls jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. I was a bit worried about the size and athleticism of Montevideo, but the Lady Owls came out strong and out-rebounded the Thunderhawks 22-20.

"I was also pleased with our free-throw shooting as we went 21 of 28 (75 percent) for the night. This was a nice team victory on the home court!"

The Owls travel to Barrett for non-conference action against the West Central Area Knights on Thursday, Dec. 17.
