Hancock girls suffer first loss
On Tuesday, Dec. 27 the Hancock girl's basketball team traveled to Marshall to compete against a very athletic Minneota team in the Holiday Classic held at the RA Facility at Southwest Minnesota State University. The Owls lost this battle by a score of 51-37.
Team shooting percent of 2s was 9/25 (36 percent)
Shooting percent 3s was 4/13 (31 percent)
Overall percent was 13/38 (34 percent)
Free-Throw percent was 9/17 (53 percent)
Total Team Turnovers was 28.
"After graduating seven seniors from the Minneota team, the Vikings reloaded and have another quality basketball club" said Coach Jodi Holleman. "They are very quick, athletic, and play outstanding defense. This is the first time all season that we have been behind at halftime, and the girls got tentative offensively and nobody wanted to shoot the ball. Kendra Schmidgall put in a solid performance scoring 20 points and pulling down seven boards, but it was not enough as the rest of the team combined for 17 points."
"This loss was a learning lesson for the Owls, and we found out that we still have a lot to work on now as we enter 2012" Holleman said. "We will continue to improve each and every game and continue to develop a deeper bench"
