Hancock Junior High baseball team sets new school record
Owls lose close game against Wheaton in B-E tournament
Wheaton started the game scoring one run in the top of the 1st. Hancock goes scoreless in the 1st to give Wheaton the lead 1 -0. The 2nd inning was scoreless by both teams. In the top of the 3rd Wheaton went scoreless and Hancock scored two runs in the bottom with Patrick Koehl leading off with a walk, followed by a Philip Schaefer single and Koehl advancing to 3rd on a passed ball and Schaefer to 2nd. Taylor Holleman followed with a single with two RBIs bringing in Koehl and Schaefer. Top of the 4th Wheaton scored five runs and Hancock goes scoreless to give Wheaton a 6-3 lead. Top of the 5th Wheaton went scoreless. In the bottom of the 5th Hancock scores three runs with Patrick Koehl, Philip Schaefer and Taylor Holleman scoring with Brendan Jensen having a RBI single scoring Holleman giving Wheaton a 6-5 lead going into the last inning. Wheaton scored three runs in the top of the 6th and the Owls scored two runs in the bottom of the 6th with Justin Miller and Patrick Koehl scoring on a RBI sacrifice hit by Taylor Holleman. Wheaton wins this game 9-7.
Offensively Taylor Holleman and Brenden Jensen with two hits and Taylor Holleman bringing in three RBIs. Defensively the Owls got off to a slow start giving up too many errors and digging too big of a hole. The kids did fight back and made it a great at the end.
Owls set school single season record with 16 wins with win over B-E giving them 3rd place at the B-E tournament
B-E started the game scoreless in the 1st. Patrick Koehl, Philip Schaefer, Brendan Jensen, Jerid Berning, Ross Ascheman and Anthony Koehl all scored in the 1st. Brendan Jensen had an RBI single, Jerid Berning had a single with two RBIs and Patrick Koehl had a single with two RBIs. B-E went scoreless again in the top of the 2nd. Hancock scored one run in the bottom with Taylor Holleman having a double and scoring on a RBI single by Jerid Berning. B-E came up with two runs in the top of the 3rd and Hancock scored one run in the bottom of the inning. With one out Patrick Koehl was walked and with two outs Koehl scored on a RBI single by Taylor Holleman giving the Owls a 8-2 lead. In the top of the 4th B-E went scoreless and the Owls scored one more run in the bottom with Ross Ascheman leading off with a double and scoring on a RBI sacrifice hit by Patrick Koehl. Top of the 5th B-E was scoreless and the Owls scored three more runs in the bottom of the 5th. Taylor Holleman, Brenden Jensen and Jerid Berning all scoring in the 5th and Jerid Berning had a double with two RBIs ending the game 12-2 in a 10 run rule in the 5th.
Offensively Jerid Berning led the Owls with three hits and five RBIs and Patrick Koehl, Taylor Holleman, Brenden Jensen and Ross Ascheman all having two hits. Patrick Koehl also contributed with three RBIs. Patrick picked up the win pitching four innings and striking out eight Chargers. This was a big win giving them 16 wins setting the single season school record in wins in Hancock and still having three games to go.
