Hancock JV baseball team ends season 20-4

CGB started the game off with one run in the top of the 1st. Hancock came back with two runs in the bottom to lead 2-1. With one out Philip Schaefer hit a double and then with two outs Brendan Jensen hit an RBI single scoring Schaefer and advanced to 2nd and 3rd on passed balls. Jerid Berning followed with an RBI single scoring Jensen. In the top of the 2nd CGB scored one run. Hancock also scored one run in the bottom of the inning. Jerrid Jepma led off with a walk and stole 2nd base and ended up scoring on a passed ball giving the Owls a 3-2 lead after two innings. In the top of the 3rd CGB scored three runs and Hancock scores six big runs in the bottom of the inning. Ross Ascheman, Austin Anderson, Jerrid Jepma, Evan Nelson, Philip Schaefer and Taylor Holleman all scored with Evan Nelson having a single with two RBIs and Philip Schaefer and Taylor Holleman both having RBI singles. This gave the Owls a 9-5 lead. The 4th, 5th, and 6th innings were scoreless for both teams with Hancock still having the lead 9-5. In the top of the 7th CGB scored one run giving the Owls the win 9-6 improving to 17-4 on the year.

Offensively Philip Schaefer led the Owls with three hits and Brendan Jensen and Ross Ascheman each having two hits and Evan Nelson driving in two RBIs. Defensively a stand out play was Jerid Berning turning a double play at shortstop. Patrick Koehl picked up the win pitching six innings and striking out seven Wolverines. Philip Schaefer did a great job pitching one inning and striking out three Wolverines picking up the save.

Owls win game one of double-header vs. WCA behind Ross Ascheman's grand slam

Hancock scored five runs to start the game in the top of the 1st. With one out Philip Schaefer hit a single and stole 2nd base, followed by a Taylor Holleman RBI single scoring Schaefer, Holleman then stole 2nd base. Brendan Jensen reached base on an error advancing Holleman to 3rd followed by a Jerid Berning walk loading the bases for Ross Ascheman. Ascheman hit a big grand slam with four RBIs giving the Owl s a 5 - 1 lead after the 1st. Hancock scored another run in the top of the 2nd. With two outs Brendan Jensen hit a single and stole 2nd base followed by Jerid Berning's RBI double scoring Jensen. WCA was scoreless in the bottom of the 2nd. This gave the Owls a 6-0 lead.

Top of the 3rd Hancock was scoreless and in the bottom of the 3rd WCA scored one run giving Hancock a 6-1 lead. In the top of the 4th Hancock scored two more runs by Taylor Holleman leading off with a single and stealing 2nd and 3rd base. With one out Berning hit an RBI double scoring Holleman. Berning then stole 3rd base followed by a Ross Ascheman RBI single scoring Berning. WCA scored two more runs in the bottom of the inning but came up short giving the Owls the 8-3 win.

A huge highlight offensively was Ross Ascheman's grand slam in the 1st inning and also contributing five RBIs for the game. Also, Taylor Holleman, Jerid Berning and Evan Nelson all contributed with two hits each. Philip Schaefer got the win pitching four innings and striking out eight Knights.

Owls take game two of double-header behind Taylor Holleman's

The only run of the game was scored in the top of the 3rd inning by the Owls. With two outs Brendan Jensen hit a double followed by an RBI single by Ross Ascheman scoring Jensen. This was a great game by both teams with both pitchers pitching a great game. Taylor Holleman picked up the win pitching four innings and striking out nine Knights. Also, defensively Jerrid Jepma had a great diving catch at the catchers position in the bottom of the 1st. Taylor Holleman, Jerid Berning, Brendan Jensen and Ross Ascheman led the Owls offensively with one hit each. This improves the Owls to 19-4 on the year.

Owls Finish season with another win over B-E behind Patrick Koehl's home run

Hancock started the game scoring one run in the top of the 1st by Philip Schaefer. B-E scored four runs coming out ahead after the 1st giving them a 4-1 lead. The 2nd inning was scoreless by both teams. In the top of the 3rd Hancock scored three runs with Patrick Koehl, Philip Schaefer and Taylor Holleman scoring. B-E scored one more run in the bottom of the 3rd to give B-E a 5-4 lead. In the top of the 4th Hancock scored three more runs with Patrick Koehl, Philip Schaefer and Jerid Jepma scoring. B-E scored four more runs in the bottom of the 4th to give them a 9-7 lead.

In the top of the 5th the Owls rallied for nine big runs with Patrick Koehl, Philip Schaefer, Taylor Holleman, Brendan Jensen, Jerid Berning, Ross Ascheman, Justin Miller, Anthony Koehl and Brandon Shaw all scoring. The Charger went scoreless giving the Owls a 16-9 lead. In the top of the 6th the Owls score two more runs with Patrick Koehl and Brandon Shaw scoring. This is the way the game ended giving the Owls a 18-9 win. Offensively Patrick Koehl led the Owls with four hits, four runs and four RBIs and a home run. Also leading the Owls were Philip Schaefer who had four runs, three hits and two RBIs and Taylor Holleman added two runs, three hits and five RBIs. Patrick Koehl picked up the win striking out six Chargers and Philip Schaefer pitched two innings striking out four Chargers. The Owls end the season with a 20-4 record.
