This morning as I awoke I was thinking, oh, I hate getting out of bed this early.
But, I HAVE a nice soft warm bed to get out of.
I went to the kitchen, grumbled that the coffee wasn't ready, put in my bread for toast.
But, I HAVE water, bread, and enough food to last for a week, at least.
I slowly got dressed for work thinking, another day, another dollar.
But I HAVE a job to go to, and a income to survive on. (barely)
I bundled up to brave the cold, dressed in my warm coat, hat, gloves and boots, and got in the car.
But I HAVE a warm coat and clothes, and a car to take me almost anywhere.
At work friends laughed, talked, and complained about all the petty things in life.
But I HAVE friends laughing and complaining and most important, they are in my life.
Driving home from work, my mind fills with things I must do, today, tomorrow and always.
But I HAVE a home, things to do, and memories to make, today, tomorrow and hopefully always.
I pray for those in Haiti, the families of fathers, mothers, and children and all they have lost. It seems like a very small thing to do, but prayer will always help us through. May we all be thankful every moment, for all we have, and for all we don't have.
If you think that winter is long now, you better thank Pope Gregory because it could be worse. The Julian calendar was in use until Gregory took out ten days from Oct. 5 to Oct. 15. Now we have 10 less days of the year. Those of you who don't have enough time to get anything done you can blame Pope Gregory for taking your ten days.
Well I have to clean house today. Just another one of life's chores that I have to do. My husband hates cleaning. The only thing he cleans is his plate.
And now for something simple and sweet:
Our granddaughters always love helping make these when they come to visit. It's fun, quality time spent together. Memories are made of this.
3 packages (7-1/2 ounces each) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
Cut each biscuit into four pieces. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Roll each biscuit piece in cinnamon-sugar. Place in a greased 13 - inch x 9-inch, baking pan. In a small saucepan, combine the topping ingredients; cook and stir over medium heat until ice cream is melted and brown sugar is dissolved. Pour over biscuits.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack. Serve immediately, Yields: 12 servings.
Breakfast Monkey-Bread Rolls
Prep: 20 minutes Chill overnight Bake 18 minutes Cool 5 minutes
1/2 of a 36.5 ounce package frozen cinnamon sweet roll dough (6 rolls)
1/4 cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons maple syrup or maple flavored syrup
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Place frozen rolls 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Cover rolls with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight to let dough thaw and begin to rise.
Generously grease twelve 2 1/2 - inch muffin cups or coat with non-stick cooking spray. In small bowl, whisk together the melted butter and maple syrup until combined. Divide mixture among muffin cups. Sprinkle pecans into cups. Set aside.
Cut each roll into 4 pieces. Place two roll pieces in each prepared muffin cup, pressing together lightly.
Bake in a 350 degree oven about 18 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in muffin cups on wire rack for 5 minutes. Invert onto a large platter. Serve warm, drizzled with frosting from roll package., if you like.
Makes 12 rolls.
Note: To save time, substitute a 12.4-ounce package (8) refrigerated cinnamon rolls for the frozen cinnamon roll dough and omit the overnight rise. Cut each roll into 3 pieces. Continue as directed except bake for 15 minutes or until rolls are golden brown.

June Pearson called on Diana Dickinson on Sunday and they enjoyed a good visit.
Elaine Jacobson's son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Sandy Burns from Benson, brought and enjoyed supper on Sunday evening at Elaine's house.
Tammy Ascheman was a Saturday morning guest of Elaine Jacobson.
Rob and Marilyn Nohl recently visited Junior and Kathy Nohl at Willmar. Rob and Marilyn Nohl were guests of Mark and Barb Norbie of Willmar on Friday evening.
