Harlan A. Thielke
Harlan A. Thielke, 74, Wahpeton, N.D. died Friday Sept. 12, 2008 at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, N.D. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton with Rev. Morris Stephens officiating. Burial was at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Garden of Prayer, Wahpeton, N.D.
Harlan Arthur Thielke was born on March 4, 1934 in Stevens County near Morris to Alfred and Frieda (Melchert) Thielke. He attended rural school and graduated from Morris Agriculture School, Morris and also the Interstate Business College, Fargo, N.D. Harlan served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1957 and served in Germany. On Sept. 10, 1961 he married Darlene Johnson in Enderlin, N.D. The couple made their home in Wahpeton where Harlan worked for Ro-Banks Tool and Manufacturing for 31 years. He retired in 1993. In his retirement, Harlan worked for the VFW, Daily News and the Fairview Cemetery Association; all of Wahpeton. He also worked at Cenex in Breckenridge.
Harlan was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, area Sportsman's Club, Terrace Lanes Hall of Fame, 40 et 8, and a lifetime member of the Woody Keeble VFW Post No. 4324 and the Hafner-Miller-Ross American Legion Post No. 20. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling; but his greatest pride was in his grandsons, Jake and Ty.
Harlan is survived by his wife of 47 years, Darlene, Wahpeton, sons; Blair Thielke, Lisbon, N.D. and Ryan (Christi) Thielke, Moorhead; grandsons, Jake and Ty Thielke, Moorhead; a sister, Alfrieda (Merlin) Dornbush, Becker and brothers; Aldon (Bev) Thielke, Ennis, Mont., Leslie Thielke, Anoka, and Virgil (Jeanie) Thielke, Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Myron.
Vertin-Munson in Wahpeton was in charge of local arrangements.
