Funeral services for Harold Noah Luthi of Morris will be held Monday, March 2, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, rural Morris. The Apostolic Christian Church Ministers will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will in the church cemetery.

Harold Noah Luthi, was born to William and Minnie (Schlupp) Luthi, on June 3, 1925 in Horton Township, Stevens County. He attended School District #16 through the 8th grade. He then worked on the family farm with his father and brothers. He attended the Apostolic Christian Church his entire lifetime; considering it his church.

In January 1945, he was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country as a medic and cook in the Mariana Islands and Saipan. He was honorably discharged in November 1946. In 1950, he started farming with his brother Ray for a couple of years. In 1958, he purchased the Christian Luthi farm, where he farmed his entire life. For numerous years he and his brother Albert farmed together. On July 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Bernice Bruland. To this union four children were born. Harold's entire life was dedicated to his family, his farm and the community. He enjoyed traveling and took his family on numerous trips around the United States, always stopping along the way to visit with his brothers and sisters. He enjoyed reading, attending numerous board meetings, working his farm, visiting with family, friends and neighbors and having his afternoon coffee at DeToy's. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harold was very active in the community and served on numerous boards throughout the years. He served 24 years on the Rural School Board and the Morris Area School Board, serving as Chairman for a number of years. He also served on the Barnes-Aastad Association Board for 11 years, the Minnesota State Corn Promotion Council, the Irrigation Association Board where he served as State President, the University of Minnesota West Central Experiment Station Advisory Board, the Soil & Water Conservation District Board for 12 years, and the Stevens Community Medical Board of Directors for 10 years, where he was instrumental in establishing the Dialysis Unit. He was an instrumental part of the Stevens and Pope County Ground Water Study, and also served as a mediator for the State of Minnesota during the farm crisis in the mid-1980s. He served on the U.S. Feed and Grain Council where he was involved in a fact finding mission to Indonesia, South Korea and Australia. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a Pioneer Seed salesman for 35 years.

Harold passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having reached the age of 83 years, 9 months.

His is survived by his wife Bernice Luthi of Morris; four children: Daniel (Christine) Luthi of Morris, Carol (Dale) Richter of Maplewood, Daryl Luthi of Morris and Rita (Larry) Bye of Cyrus; nine grandchildren: Ryan (Heather) Luthi, Caleb (Wendy) Luthi, Aaron (Amanda) Luthi, Amanda (Carter) Feuchtenberger, Braden Luthi, Derek Richter, Elena Richter, Hannah Bye and Lynnea Bye; eight great-grandchildren: Alivia and Lily Luthi, Jasmine and Gavin Luthi, Noah and Abram Luthi and Seth and Eli Feuchtenber-ger; step-mother: Lillie Luthi of Morris; brothers: Raymond (Violet) Luthi of Lamar, Mo. and Reuben (Chrystol) Luthi of Morris; sisters: Violet Wulf of Morris, Wilma (Clyde) Kuntz of Gridley, Ill. and Lillian (Howard) Mogler of Alvord, Iowa; sister-in-laws: Della Luthi of Morris and Marlene Bruland of Cyrus and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Albert Luthi and Donald Luthi; brother-in-laws: Leonard Wulf and Milton Bruland and sister-in-laws: Marilyn Luthi and Myrtle Luthi.

Pallbearers for the service are Harold's grandsons: Ryan Luthi, Caleb Luthi, Aaron Luthi, Braden Luthi, Carter Feuchtenberger and Derek Richter. Honorary pallbearers are Harold's granddaughters: Amanda Feuchtenberger, Hannah Bye, Lynnea Bye, Elena Richter, Amanda Luthi, Heather Luthi and Wendy Luthi. The Apostolic Christian Church Choir will provide special music for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
