Memorial services for Harvey Schlieman were held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church-Fairfield Township. Pastor Donald Klatt officiated. Joann Schliep was the organist. Honorary bearers were all of Harvey's nieces and nephews. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Harvey August Schlieman was born on July 2, 1923, at Fairfield Township in Swift County, to Frank C. and Alma (Rohloff) Schlieman. He was baptized on Aug. 5, 1923 and confirmed in 1937 at Trinity Lutheran Church-Fairfield Township. Harvey attended school at the Parochial School in Fairfield Township.
Harvey spent his life working as a farmer and overseer of his brother's farming. He was talented at fixing machinery and working with anything mechanical. He enjoyed watching sports, fishing, trapping, and playing cards. He particularly enjoyed his drives around the county with Vern and Helen Hollingsworth. Harvey was a life time member of Trinity Lutheran Church-Fairfield Township and the Holloway Rod & Gun Club.
Harvey died on Sunday morning, July 19, at Appleton Area Health Services. He had attained 86 years and 17 days of age.
He is survived by a sister and three brothers: Valora (Verdie) Greseth of Appleton, Warren (Anna) Schlieman of Holloway, Elmer (Audrey) Schlieman of Appleton, and Harold (Lavonne) Schlieman of Morris; sister-in-law, Lois Schlieman, of Appleton; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alma Schlieman; brother Edgar Schlieman; and sister and brother-in-law, Marlys and Palmer Greseth.
