Traffic will use a detour on Highway 28, Stevens County Road 1 and Highway 9 through late June while crews replace several culverts and repair frost heaves. Following the detour, crews will resurface the roadway, which will require lane closures with a pilot car operation.

A map of the detour is attached to this story.

All work is scheduled to be complete in mid-July, weather permitting. The project was originally scheduled to begin in mid-June, but favorable weather conditions will allow the contractor to start the project early.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones. For statewide travel information, visit www.511mn.org, call 5-1-1 or log on to www.mndot.gov.
