Motorists on Highway 9 between Hancock and Benson will be detoured beginning Tuesday, May 11, when a resurfacing project begins.

The project encompasses about 12 miles of roadway from the Benson city limits to a mile north of the Pope and Stevens counties line, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Traffic will be detoured on Stevens County Road 8 east of Hancock, Pope County Road 2 and Highway 29 while Highway 9 is closed between Hancock and Benson.
